The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery has 9 subtests. Your AFQT score (the one recruiters care about) comes from just 4 of them:

Already Enlisted?

Active-duty personnel take the Armed Forces Classification Test (same content as the ASVAB) to raise line scores for reclassification, OCS, or specialized units.

MOS/AFSC Change - Reclassify to a new job
OCS/Commissioning - Officer programs require minimum GT scores
Special Ops - Ranger, SF, SWCC, PJ qualifications
Warrant Officer - Flight training and tech tracks
1 Base Education Center
2 Command approval memo
3 Prep course (BSEP/FAST)
4 Take the AFCT (CAT format)
⚠ Critical: Your new score permanently replaces the old one, even if lower. 6-month wait between retests. Take the prep course first.
